Looking for advice about changing my name. Is it awful not to? Really prefer my own surname but I know changing is the done thing. Anyone out there who has any ideas?

It's totally okay to keep

It's totally okay to keep  your own name.  In the past it was expected of you to take your husbands name.  I'm keeping my maiden name for a few reasons including my job situation.  My Fiancé is fine with it.

Getting married next year and

Getting married next year and my fiancé has left the decision about name change or not up to me.  I've been doodling my new married name since we got engaged, so I think I've already made my mind up!!

You have a few options to choose from

I know it's hard to know what to do.  I'm going through the same thing at the moment.  Really there are three main options and one not so popular option to choose from.

You can either keep your own name.

Take your husbands name

or you could opt for the double-barrell

or your fiancé could take your maiden name!!   (not so popular form the grooms' point of view)
